J. A. Pell & Son recently carried out a window renovation & restoration project on this small timber window in Essex.
Generally the window was in decent condition, however in places was showing signs of rot and decay. Needless to say it needed bring back to it’s former glory, it’s nothing our team couldn’t turn around and make brand new once again.
Our team stripped all the existing paint finish back to bare wood where needed, to give a good base for preparation, while exposing any of the rotten and decaying wood. All rot and decay was removed and problem areas treated with a solvent based wood hardening solution. Once the hardening solution was cured, any necessary areas are filled with a two part repair filler. The filler is then moulded, cut, and sanded to shape as required, ensuring a high-quality repair using superior materials. This process ensures and long lasting and high quality repair.
The window was then washed ready for primer and received one last fill for any small blemishes which have been potentially missed. The glass was re-glazed from both inside and outside using a specific modern acrylic product instead of linseed oil putty. Our team then finished up using a high quality BDEC Barn Paint system. Applying the recommended amount of coats to produce a flawless brilliant white matt finish.
Another timber window renovated and restored back to it’s former glory. While keeping in budget and giving the client their specified choice of durable finish.
